Hi Guys,

I've got a '58 R60 that I got in pieces and am in the process of putting back together. This bike has the larger 6.5 gallon Sport tank. I've been trying to restore it to original as much as I can.

I'm trying to figure out if I'm missing any pieces for the lock or if the one's I have are even correct....photos attached.

I assume I'm at least missing a clip that would fit in the groove on the threaded piece to hold everything together.

Any input is appreciated!

Thanks!

Paul

Paul -

Just checked my R25/2 which has that setup. You're right...you need a big external c-clip to hold the bolt affair to the lid. That's a pretty bit washer on the outside...guess it's needed. Hopefully, the threads will reach to the female threaded tang welded to the tank.

Thanks Kurt! So would it be the threaded lock piece, metal washer and rubber washer from the top of the lid and then just the c-clip from underneath? (No washer on the bottom of the lid)?

Thanks!

Well, you need some kind of

Well, you need some kind of protector between the bolt and the tank/paint. But if the washer is too thick, then you can't get the c-clip around the bolt shank. Beyond that, the exposed threads have to be able to reach the threaded tang in the tang.
