I tried to keep the orientation of all the parts the same when I re-installed my head...but its been almost 3 months and I think things were moved. Is there a front and back to the pushrods?... one that must touch the cam and the other thats on the rocker arm?

I don't think so. I did keep mine oriented the same way they came out and intake versus exhaust. But from my picture, they sure see the same on either end.

I kept the exhaust/intake

I kept the exhaust/intake orientation, but over the 3 months I've forgotten if there was a front or back. Unlike yours, mine don't have the little rounded ends.
Thanks

Are the ends the same? The rod rides in cups at the rocker arm and at the cam end. I was thinking that maybe the heavier end (if there is one) should be next to the cam, but the rod moves as a solid piece, so I'm not sure weight would have anything to do with it. If there was rotation involved, maybe so, but the rod is essentially moving in a straight line. If anything, the cam side is going up and down much more than the rocker end, so maybe the lighter end should be next to the cam. How's that for a complete reversal of thought? Big Grin

No, both ends are completely identical. One end is shinier...I was thinking this might be the cam end?

Hard to say...both ends of mine are equally shiny. Note that the tube is supposed to rotate due to the offset nature of the rocker arms.

There isn't a front or a back to the pushrod, HOWEVER, it is always better to re-install the parts the same way as they were running before. In particular if you keep the same rocker arms and cam follower. Over time the materials tend to adapt to each other ... like a finger print.
However, if you don't remember, I wouldn't get a gray hair over that.
