I see that Darryl and his R52 are entered in the 2018 Cannonball, which just launched a couple of days ago. Will there be a daily update so that we can again follow his progress?

The first time he ran the Cannonball, he had a blog on this site I believe. But I didn't see routine updates. As busy as he seems to have been lately, I doubt we'll see anything here. Maybe the official site will post results.

A couple of my riding buddies

A couple of my riding buddies bumped into them up in New Hampshire this past Saturday. They were on their way to Peterborough, I believe. Some very nice old bikes in that group.

Hard to follow

The Cannonball website posts the daily results, but the charts are so small they are almost impossible to read. Darryl shows up about halfway down the second page.

Some additional coverage

Some additional coverage here... at least I was able to read the list. Seems to need updates. Darryl and pretty much all the BMWs are in the latter half of the field.

Stage 9

Through Stage 9 (the 16th) Darryl was in 77th place, having DNF'd on one day's ride.

Darryl finished

I see that Darryl held it together and finished the run in 67th position. The final results are here.

Two other BMW finishers were Norm Nelson (R52) in position 36 and Brent Hansen (R42) in 75th. Joe Gimpel (R62) is listed DNF.

The Cannonball is a fascinating enterprise. This time, there were 107 entries, each of which represents a $25,000 entry fee. That's over two and a half million dollars to fund the thing.

It was fun to read the daily

It was fun to read the daily up dates... I can’t imagine doing it, not to mention I don’t have an extra $25k

Entry fee

The entry fee is $2,500 not $25,000. Big difference!

Sorry

Sorry if I got the entry fee wrong. You're right, there is a big difference.
