Hi all.
I closed the gearbox and it is shifting good and everything looks ok, expect that I do not know how to check if the neutral indication light will work (the bike and headlamp is dismantled): I have a multi-meter of course, and am touching with one test lead the neutral wire (that is connected to the copper plate inside the shifting mechanism), and with the other lead the shell of the gearbox. I assume that it is the wrong way as I get no continuity, but I do know that before taking the bike apart, it was all ok and the green light was functioning every time I was in the N position.
Please your ideas.
Thank you.

nuetral light

Yes you should read zero ohms when gear is in neutral and meter is connected to ground and to the neutral wire connector

Thank you, Tommy. If so, I

Thank you, Tommy.
If so, I assume that as a double check, I should read some ohm's when in gear?
Or am I wrong here?

Seems like you should have

Seems like you should have essentially 0 ohms when in neutral and infinity (or open) when in gear. 0 ohms (in neutral) means a completed circuit and the green light shines...infinity (or open) means the circuit is broken and there is no light.

Guys, I have just checked,

Guys, I have just checked, and I get zero ohms all the time.
While in N or in gear.
What am I doing wrong, or is this indication thingy faulty?

What kind of meter are you

What kind of meter are you using? And you're sure you are in the ohms settings and using the appropriate range?

What reading do you get when you touch the two leads together? What reading do you get when you try and read the resistance of a piece of wood?

U could just use a test light

U could just use a test light with one terminal to batt + & the other to the terminal on ur tranny
Do u have gud ground connections on the engine?
Do ur other lights work ok?

The bike is dismantled. I

The bike is dismantled.
I use the device I pictured here.
That's the reading I get, while touching with one lead the casting of the gearbox and the wire with the other one.

I get ca. 25 ohms while touching a wooden pencil… (and its stating also "AUTO" on top).

When I touch a pencil with my

When I touch a pencil with my meter in any of the ohms settings, I get open circuit...basically the same "OL" that you show in your picture. I'm concerned there's something wrong with the meter...there should be no continuity when touching leads to a pencil.

Well I tried it with a test

Well I tried it with a test light.
There's no light in both situations: while in gear and while in N.
I attached the shifting mechanism's wire that comes out from the gearbox to the + of the batt.
And then one wire from the gearbox's body (ground) to the 2nd bulb wire, and the bulb's bracket to the negative pole on the batt.

Came back for updating: All

Came back for updating:
All is well now and functioning!
The problem was, ah... well… poor contact of the copper blade inside the shifting mechanism.
I gave it a light polish with some emery paper and that's it.
Strange thing is, it was functioning ok before taking it apart…
So, it's now documented here for anyone who will make a search in the future.
I thank you all for your support and time.
Have a nice weekend.
