I have a 69 R50US that has a front fender that needs to be repainted. It has very little damage, just a scrape in the front but the paint and the pinstriping is damaged. I was thinking about sending it out to be painted and wondered if anyone had experience with any shops and had an idea of how much it should cost for paint and pinstriping.

Here's what I did...

It depends on how committed you are to precisely duplicating the original finish. In a similar situation, I took my fender to my favorite local body shop, where most of their work is done with Glasurit paint. To meet California's strict pollution regulations, it's a base+clear process, not a single stage process. Those aiming at concours-level quality would send me to the woodshed, but when I look at the 53-year-old paint on the rest of the bike, I can't tell any difference. To my eye it looks great. It's been some time, but as I recall, I paid $150 for the paint and another $75 for the striping. For a small volume of work, that may seem like a high price, but if done by a real restoration specialist, it would probably cost twice as much.

Looks Great

Thanks, your bike looks great, very original. I spoke to someone locally who does pinstriping for a local shop. He just did a BMW and it look good.
