Could someone give me a rough guess on what my R12 is gonna be worth when it is all Together? Any place that could appraise it? It is a 1940 Military Model Matching numbers, Engine, gearbox, magneto, and rear rebuilt by Vech.It is Panzer grey, has 1 original(excellent shape) leather pannier bag and will be attached to a fully restored correct Royal sidecar.

Restored R12 Value

If the restoration is documented, everything, CD's with pictures, receipts, etc, viedo you have to really go above and beyond. Than is the case halves matching, this makes a big difference in price as well. My R12 got $20,000 as a solo but Vech replaced and fixed everything but the paint.

Restored R12 Value

Well looking at the prices in the Europe market I think 20K in the USA is a joke. I think you got robbed Mike.I think your bike was worth $30k min. Well mine is not done yet and it will have a sidecar too. The R12 seems to be rare and the prices of good running bikes cost plenty. I Nearly have $20k invested in the bike and am almost done. It is also a Military matching numbers. Not to mention being restored by Vech. Now Vech told me he had offers on his bike of about $50k. Well even if that is exaggerated I think they are worth $35k+ with a sidecar.

Well my bike was restored by Vech except for the paint. Vech told me mine ran just as good as his and he will tell you, my R12 was a very good running bike. So i guess that means the R12 thats sitting in my garage right now for $20,650 is a bargain!

Well the bike in your garage has a lot of incorrect parts(as stated on Kradrider) and a postwar sidecar for one. If it was a real sidecar, correct parts and done by Vech it would be a bargin. I think the one you have now is fairly priced. I am sparing no expense on restoring and finding orginal parts for my 2 R12's. BTW if you dont mind telling how much did it cost to have your motor rebuilt by Vech?I am only asking because #2 needs to have it done and #1 was already done when I purchased the bike. Thanks Mike

ok, just so you know, the R12 on my web site for sale right now, IS NOT MY R12 that Vech restored. This R12 belongs to a customer and he wants too sell it, so like i stated on my site, it has wrong parts on it that are Russian, how honest can I be? Their is one picture of my R12 on the site and I can tell you right now, it was more than worth the 20K it brough in and I did it right.

That appears to be a nice bike a few things stand out on it. It has a Military frame, no heat at all on the header pipes( has he even ran it for more than 10 mins?) and one thing really stands out, its $30,000 US dollars. Thats freaking way too much. Where is the history on the bike, what frame number, is the case matching numbers, what was done too the motor? If you are going to ask that much, at least a few more details right?

New purchase of BMW prewar Motorcycles

I have just bought in Europe 1940 R12 complete but not running and 1938 R71 military (Africa) restored, both with sidecars. Price for each was Euro 9,000.00. They are my 5th and 6th BMW. Will send photos for your "evaluation" but do not know how to attach them. I hope I made a good deal but would appreciate member comments...

The problem with r12 prices

The problem with r12 prices is which market, EU or USA. I bought my unrestored original r12 in Poland for 6500 euros and got the better part of a second bike for parts. These deals are still fairly common for military r12's. Now I am of course leaving out the expense of shipping. I know the figure of $30,000 restored gets bounced around, but even here that would need to be an exceptional case. I would call $30k the retail price. I paid 18k for an original restored Zundapp rig w/sidecar and all original accessories a bit more than a year ago. The guy had an r75 rig all original with history and no need of restoration for $35k. I could see paying that for an r75 but I do not think a military r12 would get near that in reality. That is not to say people do not try and sell them for that much. There are still many r12's floating around the EU unrestored. In the end it comes down to what you want to spend.
