Posting Pictures????

Comet -

I did a search and came up with the following thread...this will provide some background...

http://vintagebmw.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=24&

First, the picture has to already be on the web somewhere. Then you provide a series of letters surrounding the URL of the image. Then it should show within the post. Of you could just put the URL of the image (sans surrounding letters) and it becomes a link that individual readers can click on to download the picture...that's how I did the link above.

It's pretty much the same to post on any forum.
Easy to set up and use. Once you set up the account and download the picture to the bucket/album its only like 3 clicks and its on here for all to see.

To put pictures in your postings, you add code like the following:

Your picture has to be on the web someplace (but not here, the club can't afford the storage space). It can't be just on your personal machine's hard disk, and unfortunately you can't just upload it here with your message.

Where ever you do put your pictures on the web, the URL (that http:... thing) must end in .jpg or the forum software won't recognize it as an image. (Many of the photo sites don't allow this direct access to photos.)

Photobucket, as suggested by finman57, not only allows direct linking to pictures stored there, but even supplies the correct code so you can just copy it from there and paste it into a posting here. That's about as painless as it can get. (Disclaimer: I'm not a Photobucket customer or investor, I just had a look at their tutorials page.)
