Since photo posting seems to be a little beyond me and I do have a website of my 68 R60/2 restoration how would I notify anyone who is interested...in fact would it be of interest? I believe I sent it to Darryl already.

The link is up on the Links page. It's in the section on Personal Restorations. It's about half way down the page.

Thanks for putting that up, Kurt!

Just an FYI, since you have pictures up on your site, you can make them appear here in your postings easily enough. All you need is the link to a .jpg on your site. For example, the picture on the front page of your web site has a URL of
http://www3.telus.net/blackorchid/pics/bike.jpg
To make that picture appear in a posting, just surround the link with [img] and [/img] tags (and no spaces), like this:

and it will appear like this:

This only works for image files that you have a URL that begins with http:// and ends with either .jpg or .gif.
I have noticed a sudden increase in Hellla spotlamp mirrors on ebay. Bought one myself and sent it back as I was not convinced it was a period authentic peace. Have since bought one from a VW shop that is definitely correct. Look forward to input from members on this issue. The one I bought is the smaller one with Hella stamped on the rim, rear glass is slightly convex, body is painted.Thanks.
Now riding a R60/2 with BMW Spezial never restored previously Randy Franks.
Greetings, my name is Dave and I have a UK Specs 80 RS all original. It is a 30 year old daily driver that I picked up in Munich with 50K on it and it looks like it. I curently have it in the shop getting a front to back tune up, but I really want to get the fairing, tank and fenders back into shape. I would like to do the work myself, but I have NO experience with fiberglass. Am I getting myself into something better left to the professionals? Any advice would be more than welcome.
I have no experience with fiberglass, but I've heard that what makes a good paint job is not the painting but the prep or body work. So, you really have to be good at working with fiberglass I would think.
The tank on an RS should be steel, not fiberglass.
The tank is indeed steel, but I am more concerned with the fairing right now.
Found a nice complete set of Craven panniers but need some more info on the correct fitting.
See image for my temporary fitting.
See Duane's site for info on Cravens:

Hello Kurt in SA I used to live in Durban before coming to NZ about 4 years ago. Used to have a 1957 R 60 combination in SA.

I do use the username "Kurt in S.A." on a few other forums. I live in San Antonio, hence the "S.A.". Never been to the African continent.
I have been to New Zealand, though. I made several trips in 1998. On one, I spent a month on business, but took a week off to drive around the South Island. I started in Queenstown and drove to Fiordland, Invercargill, and Dunedin. What a wonderful country...I hope to get back some time and do it again on a motorcycle!!
Nice bike.. Great combination. How much it costs?

What's the URL to the website? There are already several links to restorations by some of our members. I can include it in the Links section of the VBMWMO website for others to use as a reference.
