Can the lower stanchion only be removed to replace the fork seals? Or does the entire fork assembly have to be removed. The tire and disc brake calipers, and fender have been removed. The 10mm screw in the bottom of the stanchion is loose and all oil drained.

84' R80RT Fork Seals

I think the '84 is the same as the '78... I believe you can just remove the lower sliders to get at the fork seals no need to remove the forks. Be sure and support the calipers so they don't hang on the brake hose, otherwise internal damage could result.

Fork Seals

Thanks for the fast response. Everything is ready to go. Brake calipers are supported and wheel removed.
