I joined this forum before I paid. I received my official membership package and it contains a new ID and password.

I want to have the user name I joined with and NOT the one assigned by the membership. I tried to go in and edit both; but there does not seem to be a way to merge the two accounts. Should I delete the original account and then log in with teh one I was sent in the mail?

Dual membership

If you want to use the name you created with the non-club assigned account, you need to do the following:

  • Log in with your own account. Click on Profile, change the name to something else, and click submit.
  • Log in with your club assigned account. Click on Profile, change the name to OldBMWMaster.
  • We highly recommend you change your password!
  • Click on submit to record the changes.

Now your club account has the name (and password) you want. Ignore the old account. Unfortunately, the posts you've made under that old account will continue to appear under it -- there's nothing to be done about it.

You want to use your club account because that paid-for account has more privileges than the regular account does. It also allows you to update your club mailing address and to see your membership info including the expiration date (all visible by clicking on the Profile link).
