My mechanic has lost track of the machinist he has used in the past and whose work he thought was top notch, for top end work. I need to get an R26 cylinder bored, valves ground and new guides placed in the head. Can any of you recommend a good machine shop to do this work?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Bore-Tech has a process to

Bore-Tech has a process to put a carbide coating on the cyinders and can bore to match your pistons.

I don't see anything on their website about performing a valve job, though.

If and when I consider or need to go first-over on my R69S, this is probably what I'll do.

There's a guy in California, Ted Porter at the Beemershop, who I would sent my /7 heads to. I don't know if he works on the pre '70 stuff though.

We found the machinist, Jack

We found the machinist, Jack Simmons. He moved his business to Hurricane, UT. I just got my cylinder and head back from him and the parts are beautiful! My rather sorry pictures are at http://twisties.smugmug.com/Motorcycles/Restoration/R26/10754660_ePfYV#7... The most recent pictures are near the end of the gallery.
