Not a vintage BMW event, but a vintage event nonetheless!
An iconic image was created in June, 1929. Hundreds of motorcyclists converged on the sand for the Western Federation of Motorcyclists (W.F.M.) Rally in beautiful Pismo Beach, California. This image continues to spur the imagination of motorcyclists everywhere, as evidenced by the numerous vendors who continue to package and sell copies of it to this very day. It's time to recreate history. Click on the link below to see the picture.
The Pismo Beach Motorcycle Classic is being organized by the Pasadena Motorcycle Club and the San Francisco Motorcycle Club. The goal is to re-start the tradition of assembling hundreds of motorcyclists on the beach for a panoramic photo taken during the WFM Rallies of the 1920's (a similar photo exists from the 1924 rally).
Each club will be organizing a scenic and memorable ride for Sat. Sept. 18th. These rides will conclude at 1300 Railroad St., Oceano Beach CA for the Classic.
Sunday morning, Sept. 19th all Pismo Beach Motorcycle Classic participants will gather at the Pismo Beach Pier for the panoramic photo. This 2010 photo will be a part of history and inspire motorcyclists in the same way the 1929 image has.
Rides leave from several places in Northern California as well as a location in Southern California. See the link for more details on the Rally (September 18) and the Classic photo shoot (September 19) -
