I have heard rumors that some extra ground wires help "smooth out" /5's but I have not heard any specifics.

There is nothing wrong with Griselda's electric-system and I'm trying to keep it that way, so far it's LED brake/taillights, LED turn signals (with an LED-ready relay) and a new battery (AGM) with freshly cleaned cable connections. What else should I be doing?

I think it's a good idea...I installed the grounding harness that Motorrad Elektrik sells or used to...I don't see it on their website now. BMW sells such a harness. Snowbum also writes about it:
